The popular multi-platform game Angry Birds is now available on Facebook, hours ahead of the official launch in Jakarta at 12 a.m. EST.

The Facebook app, as you might imagine, features the same disgruntled birds and addictive gameplay you’ve seen in mobile and desktop versions of the game.

It will also feature added social components, brand new power-ups, and Facebook-exclusive levels.

Angry Birds has been downloaded more than 700 million times since its release for Apple’s iOS in December 2009, and with Facebook’s 800 million users, it’s bound to hit 1 billion soon.

Thanks to the success of Angry Birds, game maker Rovio emerged as a gaming powerhouse, and it’s looking to go public as soon as 2012. Right now, the company is worth more than $1 billion, according to CMO Peter Vesterbacka.

BlackBerry London: is this the first RIM phone with the BBX OS?

We’ve just gotten a look at what might be the first-ever photo of the next iteration of BlackBerry devices (based on the upcoming BBX operating system and its QNX roots), and we wanted to share. The phone you see in the picture above is apparently dubbed the BlackBerry “London,” and is said to be headed for a June 2012 release. The phone allegedly is equipped with a TI OMAP dual-core CPU clocked to 1.5GHz, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard storage, an 8-megapixel rear camera, and a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter. The London is reportedly “thinner than the iPhone 4″ and roughly the same size as a Galaxy S II (though our source didn’t say which S II specifically). Oddly, the source says that the phone can be stood straight up on one of its sides (suggesting more boxiness than can be seen in the picture).

As you can see, the phone is running some variation of the PlayBook’s operating system, though coloring and icons have definitely been tweaked. For instance, the music app icon looks more like an evolution of the note you see on the PlayBook’s version (this time appearing overlaid onto an optical disc). Our source says the phone shown was a “dummy” model, so it’s likely the screen is nothing more than a static image.

What’s strange about the phone design is that it closely resembles RIM’s Porsche Design P9981. Given the source of this image, it’s possible that this is also a Porsche-designed BlackBerry destined for countries other than the US or Canada. We’re told that RIM is also showing off two lower-end devices, as well as the next version of the Torch, which is said be “very thin” with a 3.7-inch display and slide-out keyboard.

Even though we did multiple passes on this image for Photoshop and / or rendering artifacts, this could ultimately be someone’s hilarious idea of joke. It’s also possible that this is a prototype or concept design, and won’t make its way to production. Still, given the detail in the image and some of the information we were given to back it up, we believe there’s truth to this story. We’re pounding the pavement for more info as we type, so stay tuned for updates as we get them.

Update: BGR is now corroborating our information, saying that the so-called Colt — originally planned as the first BBX handset — was scrapped in favor of the London, and that it might not be ready until Q3 of 2012. Yikes. More on this as we get it.

Facebook’s Messenger app for Windows is now available for all to chit-chat with. Facebook has been testing the application since November as part of a private trial, but TechIT revealed the download link on Thursday. The application includes access to the chat, ticker feed and notification parts of Facebook, and only installs on Windows 7.

The app forms the latest in a series of standalone Facebook chat applications made available earlier this year. Facebook has previously released apps for iOS, Android and BlackBerry to enable users to chat on the go. The Windows 7 app doesn’t take advantage of the unique pinning features of the operating system, but it does include a neat dock feature that will snap the app to the side of the screen. Update:Facebook has responded to the leak by officially releasing the application, and updating their support pages. “We encourage readers to learn more about the app in the Facebook Help Center here. The Department of Tourism (DOT) has unveiled Friday its new slogan to encourage foreign travelers to visit the Philippines.

The new slogan—“It’s more fun in the Philippines“—appears simple and sleek but there’s a catch.

Apparently, it serves as a clincher to whatever Pinoys would want to promote about PH.

In its newly-launched website, http://itsmorefuninthephilippines.com,  the slogan was used as a punchline. In among its first samples, it said: “Commuting. It’s more fun in the Philippines” alongside a scenic photo of boats in Coron, Palawan.

“Our strategy is simple: while other countries invite you to observe, Filipinos can promise a more heartfelt and interesting experience. Wherever you go, whatever you do in the country, it’s the Filipinos that will complete your vacation and will make your holiday unforgettable,” adds Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez, Jr.Apart from the international campaign, DOT also has a local version, “#1forFun” to encourage Filipinos to join the campaign to attract tourists.

“The national line is a goal, a constant reminder to ourselves why we can tell travelers it’s more fun here than anywhere else,” he said. “It needs everyone’s support for it to stay true—we need to make sure people’s experiences in our country are positive, enjoyable, and most of all, fun,” Jimenez added.

Minutes after the slogan was unveiled, it was already trending worldwide on Twitter.

The campaign slogan has the approval of President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino and his Cabinet.

An Interaksyon.com report quotes Jimenez as saying that the slogan was conceived by advertising firm BBDO Guerrero | Proximity Philippines, and seeks to answer: “Why the Philippines?”

In its tweets, DOT Philippines said the government will also be competitive in getting new tourists through extended visas.

“Starting this year, no [more] 21-day visas. If competition has 30-day visas that’s what we’ll offer. We’ll give visa on arrival starting 2012,” DOT said.

“We will remain competitive. We’ll encourage everyone [to] put together [very] competitive packages. FUN is not just excitement, but prices as well,” it added.
